Engineer: Port Colden project cleared for bidding; township awarded $80,000 municipal grant

Township Engineer Bryce Good told the committee Nov. 13 that state DOT approvals were in place to proceed with the Port Colden project and that the township had secured an $80,000 municipal grant for the 2025 phase.
Good recommended advertising for bids on Nov. 21, 2024, with a bid opening on Dec. 12 and a contract award at the Dec. 18 township meeting. Mayor Norton moved to authorize Universal Technical Resource Services (UTRS) to prepare bid documents and advertise; the motion was seconded and carried with three ayes.
Good also reported no new information from DOT on Wall Street, pending final payment clearance for a pedestrian bridge (required to close out a grant), progress on DEP flood insurance planning, MS4 training requirements before year end, drainage pipe work coordination with county staff, and finalizing dam inspection costs.
