District reports boiler conversion, sea-pipe remediation and ESSIP project approval

School Business Administrator Mr. Jason Ballard updated the board on facilities and custodial operations, describing recent maintenance work and the timeline for state-funded projects.
Mr. Ballard said custodial staff focused on cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas this fall and that the boiler system conversion required temperature fluctuations through October but that "the boilers are now operational." He also reported remedial work addressing damage from a deteriorating 'sea pipe' had been completed during off-hours to minimize disruption.
Superintendent Dr. Fitzhugh told the board the district’s ESSIP program has been passed and that two state projects — involving the high school division and Cleveland — are being finalized with the SDA; Mr. Vasquez and Ms. Nagel were identified as state partners working toward project finalization. Dr. Fitzhugh said construction-related activity will begin when state approvals and project scheduling are complete and encouraged the board and community to follow district communications for updates.
Board members were asked for patience during the facilities transition and were advised that families and staff will be updated as construction planning advances.
