At the March 12 meeting the Oldmans Township Committee voted to support a farmland preservation application for property owner Ms. Paxton covering Block 13, Lots 4, 4.1 and 4.14, subject to maintaining an existing right-of-way easement to preserve access to the Oldmans Township Landfill.
Ms. Paxton said she would like to preserve her horse farm through the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) program. Committee members noted that the township must ensure the landfill access easement remains in preservation documentation. Mr. DiNicola offered to speak with Ms. Paxton about the easement details.
The committee asked Ms. Melinda Taylor to contact the New Jersey Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division to determine the status of an Airport Hazard Zone associated with the nearby airport and whether that designation could reduce the farm’s appraised value.
The motion to support the application was made by Jeff Newman, seconded by John Pomponi, and recorded as approved by the committee.
Next steps: Staff will follow up with Ms. Paxton, confirm the easement language in preservation paperwork, and await NJ DOT Aeronautics’ guidance on the airport hazard designation.
