Lawnside council adopts salary ordinance, introduces kennel-licensing changes and approves 36-item consent agenda

The Borough of Lawnside council adopted Ordinance No. 06-2025 on Jan. 7, 2026, amending the salary schedule for borough officials and employees. The second reading and public hearing produced no public comment; the roll-call adoption vote was recorded as 6–0 in favor.
Council also introduced Ordinance No. 01-2026, an amendment to Chapter 61 (Dogs & Animals) regarding the licensing of kennels. Councilperson Steven Pollard moved to introduce the ordinance, seconded by Dawn Wright-McLeod; the voice vote to introduce the measure was unanimous.
The meeting included a large consent agenda of 36 resolutions. The resolutions—adopted by unanimous voice vote—covered routine and administrative matters: scheduling 2026 council and caucus meetings; designating the official newspaper; travel and mileage policies; establishing depositories and bank accounts (including an account at 1st Colonial Bank); authorizing petty cash for the treasurer; renewing shared-service agreements (SSA) with Pennsauken Township for municipal clerk services and with the Borough of Barrington for fire-prevention services; authorizing a cash-management plan; appointing a borough solicitor, municipal public defender, municipal court prosecutor, municipal engineer, planning and zoning attorneys and engineers, auditor, bond counsel, redevelopment counsel, and other professional services; certifying receipt of the 2023 audit and approving a corrective action plan; and authorizing a refund for tax sale costs for Block 904 Lot 20.02.
Resolution No. 08-2026, which specifies the rate of interest to be collected on delinquent sewer rentals and taxes for 2026, was included on the consent agenda and was noted in public comment as drawing resident concern.
The council voted by voice to adopt the consent agenda and approve payment of bills.
Next steps: Ordinance No. 01-2026 will proceed through the standard introduction-to-adoption process; adopted Ordinance No. 06-2025 is effective per borough procedures.
