The Virginia Board for People with Disabilities honored Executive Director Teri Morgan on June 3 as she prepares to retire. Chair Allison Coles-Johnson and staff presented Morgan with a commemorative plaque and shared a letter from Governor Abigail Spanberger recognizing her contributions.
Coles-Johnson told members that a competitive selection process for a new executive director had produced a significant number of applications, and that an interview panel composed of Board members and external stakeholders was scheduled to begin interviews on June 5. Morgan thanked the Board and staff, reflected on her time leading the agency and described serving Virginians with developmental disabilities as among the most meaningful work of her career.
The Board screened a tribute video featuring messages from colleagues, partners and advocates; members and staff shared remarks acknowledging Morgan’s years of service and contributions to the Board’s mission. The transition process continues with interviews and follow-up steps determined by the Board’s succession plan.
