The Oxford Township Committee on Sept. 4 announced the township had been awarded a $400,000 grant to update its business district and authorized Finelli’s Office to begin survey work after the New Jersey Department of Transportation issues formal notice.
Mayor Gerald Norton credited Deputy Miller for gathering letters of support from local businesses and thanked Donna Becker at Finelli’s Office for her work on the grant application. Township Engineer Bryce Good said the grant requires DOT notice before the township can start a survey; the committee approved a motion to allow Finelli’s Office to proceed with the survey once DOT provides notice. The motion passed unanimously.
Engineer Good also said the township is holding 10% of the pedestrian-bridge invoice until DOT performs a final inspection. Committee members did not provide a timeline for when DOT notice is expected.
What happens next: Finelli’s Office will begin survey work for the business-district project after the township receives formal notice from DOT. Any required design, bidding or construction steps will be scheduled after that survey and subsequent approvals.
