Committee members used the Dec. 18 meeting to relay community updates and grant opportunities and to approve routine administrative items.
Georgette Miller reported the Dec. 7 tree lighting drew more than 100 children and that left-over teddy bears were distributed to police and EMS departments. Miller said she and a colleague will meet with Recreation Director Donna on Jan. 10 to work on a recreation-grant application and requested a mayoral letter of support for that grant.
On lake monitoring, Miller summarized proposals from Garden State Labs: a full-season testing contract at $2,745 or an option to have township personnel collect samples and deliver them for $75 per week, which Miller said would save $1,695 if the township handles sampling; the committee noted staff time and mileage as additional costs to consider.
Administrator Matt Hall and Engineer Mike Finelli reported several grant and DOT-related items are moving forward, including surveys for a Wall Street grant and preparations for 2025 DOT grant applications. The committee approved the Acting Municipal Clerk Lee Geller’s requested hours for 2025 (8 a.m.–4 p.m.). It also changed the township reorganization meeting date to Jan. 6, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. to comply with state statute.
The committee approved a volunteer fire department application for Erin Mackowiak. Public commenters raised a drainage concern and asked about drone activity and delayed senior/anchor freeze payments; staff said they would follow up.
