Pedestrian bridge pre-construction meeting set; engineer reports grants and dam reviews pending

Township Engineer Mike Finelli told the committee on July 17 that the pedestrian bridge project is moving toward installation: contractor paperwork has been completed, a pre- construction meeting is scheduled for Monday onsite, and the contractor will assemble the bridge in two sections off-site. The committee selected "Cape Cod Gray" as the bridge color. Finelli said the target is to have the pedestrian bridge in place by Labor Day weekend.
Finelli also reported that Port Colden Road remains under review by the New Jersey Department of Transportation; all 2025 grant applications have been submitted; the township’s MS4 materials are awaiting a DEP review letter; and the dam dive yielded a second round of reports indicating the structure is in generally good condition while the committee awaits further DEP comments.
After returning from executive session, Finelli reported that a Highlander Hills property owner (Scott) plans to add two security gates to create a gated community; the committee emphasized the need to ensure emergency-vehicle access. Mayor Norton praised the property owners’ maintenance of the site.
