The Lawnside Board of Education on Sept. 12 approved a slate of personnel appointments, vendor agreements and financial transactions and recorded the board's approval of an action referred to in the minutes as "Graham v. Lawnside." The meeting was called to order by Board President Ms. Forrest at 7:06 p.m.
Dr. Ronn H. Johnson, the superintendent, presented recommended personnel actions including the appointment of a Special Education teacher at MA Step 3 ($62,745) and two instructional assistants at Step 5 ($32,057). The board also accepted resignations from a paraprofessional effective Dec. 2, 2024, and a building-based substitute effective Sept. 2, 2024. The board approved Title I-funded staffing for the "Changing the Future" after-school program and contracted outside providers for speech and transition services with not-to-exceed amounts (Innovative Designs for Educational Achievement, LLC: $8,100; Donielle Bayard: $6,600; compensatory speech for one student: $3,500; Cheerful Chatter consultative services: $4,000; Ivy League Tutoring: up to $14,000 and a separate $3,000 contract).
The board approved several business-office resolutions, including revised TLC funding and ESEA Title I acceptance, and authorized line-item transfers and engagement of Strategic Financial Services. The board accepted the Secretary's and Treasurer's reports for July 2024 and approved payment of bills totaling $502,795.98 (dated 9/10/2024) and two ratified warrants of $96,478.63 (8/27/2024) and $310,546.79 (8/12/2024).
After a closed executive session addressing personnel, student and legal matters, the board voted to approve an item recorded as "Graham v. Lawnside." The minutes record the motion as carried; the transcript shows a recorded vote in favor.
