Mayor Gerald Norton told the Oxford Township Committee on July 17 that he had received an email notifying the township of the resignation of Municipal Alliance Coordinator Helen Diaz, who had served in the program since 2009.
Norton said the township will need to recruit a replacement and is also looking for immediate revenue options. He said he is exploring selling a small triangular township parcel (referred to in the meeting as "the triangle") and noted that the parcel requirescleanup work that could take years. Norton gave a cost estimate for remediation of roughly $400,000 to $600,000 and asked Township Attorney Rich Wenner to review the property and the plan for sale or other disposition.
Library funding: Committee member Georgette Miller reported an email from Kevin Thompson at the library saying the group had raised $3,000 toward a township match. Norton requested proof of the fundraising and asked that the chief financial officer verify the funds before any match commitment.
No formal action was taken at the meeting on either the coordinator vacancy or the proposed property sale; the attorney was asked to investigate legal and procedural options.
Provenance: Resignation announcement, revenue idea and CFO verification request recorded at SEG 038.
