Lebanon Borough Board accepts anti-bullying report, approves $346,952.21 in bills and routine items

The Lebanon Borough Board of Education on Oct. 7 accepted the School Safety and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report for September 2025 and approved payment of bills totaling $346,952.21, along with a package of routine financial, facility and personnel items.
Board President David Abeles opened the meeting and noted the district's recent Go Hunterdon Gold Award. After reviewing the district's public participation policy, the board heard no members of the public during the allotted comment period.
Under Action 26-CSA-03 the board accepted the School Safety and HIB report for September; the motion was moved by Danielle Nugent and seconded by Vincent Maglione and passed 4-0. The minutes do not record additional discussion of the report beyond its acceptance.
Administrators reported several operational items: Chief School Administrator Dr. Bruce Arcurio discussed PTA fundraisers, and district staff reported a leak from the library air-conditioning units that caused mold growth and will require replacement of wooden bookcases.
The board approved a set of financial items (Actions 26-BA-11 through 26-BA-15), including the Sept. 2, 2025 meeting minutes, Board Secretary and Treasurer reports for the period ending Aug. 31, 2025, line-item transfers and the board certification that no major account is over-expended. A motion to approve those items was moved by Vincent Maglione, seconded by Danielle Nugent and adopted 4-0.
On finance and facilities matters the board authorized payment of bills for the period ending Oct. 7, 2025 in the amount of $346,952.21 (Action 26-FFP-22). The board also approved facility use requests for the 2025-26 school year, including weekly use of the multi-purpose room by LaPointe Academy of Irish Dance and Lebanon Borough PTA events, subject to Chief School Administrator approval (Action 26-FFP-23).
The board approved staff travel requests to several conferences (Action 26-FFP-24) and the submission of the School Self-Assessment for Determining Grades under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act for 2024-25 (Action 26-FFP-25). These FFP items were moved by Chrysi Dower, seconded by Vincent Maglione and adopted 4-0.
Under personnel items the board approved the listed advisors and clubs for 2025-26, including Kickball, Outdoor Science and Nature, Student Council, Safety Patrol, Knitting, Yearbook and the Intervention & Referral Service (Action 26-PNCC-07). The motion was moved by Vincent Maglione, seconded by Chrysi Dower and adopted 4-0; the minutes note positive feedback about the kickball club.
Board members briefly discussed holding a special election for 'Vote16' and continued discussion of payment terms for a driveway lease under old business; no formal actions on those topics were recorded in the minutes. The board adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
Actions recorded in the minutes were adopted by roll-call votes when noted; the minutes report four ayes, zero nos and zero abstentions on recorded roll-call votes.
