Lebanon Borough board member to resign; board accepts HIB report and approves $185,968 in bills

Benedict Valliere, a member of the Lebanon Borough Board of Education, announced at the board’s Dec. 2 regular meeting that he will resign effective Jan. 1, 2026, because he was elected to the Town Council. Board President David Abeles said the board will advertise the vacancy and appoint someone in January to fill the remaining one-year term.
The board voted unanimously to accept the district’s School Safety and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report for November 2025. The motion to accept the report was moved by Benedict Valliere and seconded by Vincent Maglione and passed on a roll-call vote of 5-0. Chief School Administrator Dr. Bruce Arcurio was thanked during discussion for attending a regional School Boards Association meeting where the district’s business administrator presented.
Board members also approved minutes from the Nov. 11 regular and executive sessions and voted 5-0 to authorize payment of bills totaling $185,967.93. The motions were made and adopted by roll-call votes with no member voting against or abstaining.
During two public-comment periods, resident Marlene Baldinger thanked the board for including a second comment period on the agenda and noted the upcoming TREPS marketplace; she also commented on park renovations and that students would be providing input at a council meeting. School nurse Mrs. Kosciolek thanked the board for the business-administrator presentation. The board’s public-participation rules require speakers to give their names and residences before commenting.
The board moved into executive session to discuss contract negotiations; the resolution cited NJSA 10:4-12(b) and estimated a 30-minute session. Formal action was not taken in executive session. The public meeting reconvened and adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
The board’s next scheduled meeting is the reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Minutes of the Dec. 2 meeting remain unofficial until formally approved.
