Random Lake board approves annual triathlon permit, weed treatment, zoning change and slate of appointments

President Duane Urbanski called the Random Lake Village Board to order on April 20 and the board approved a series of routine agenda items and appointments.
The board unanimously approved a Temporary Street Closure Permit for the Random Lake School District’s annual Middle School Triathlon. Trustee Chuck Mueller explained that the event will not require full road closures; instead, one lane of traffic on affected roads will be blocked off. Trustee Jamie Vorpahl moved to approve the permit; the motion carried 7-0.
Also approved was a request from the Random Lake Association for annual chemical weed treatment of the lake. President Urbanski introduced the request; Trustee Rachel Fuller said the areas in the application can be assumed to be "hot spots." Trustee Chuck Mueller moved to approve the treatment as submitted; the motion carried 7-0.
The board approved a Plan Commission recommendation to change the zoning for property held by the Trustee of the Random Lake Fire Department at 718 N Spring St. Trustee Dave Borchardt moved to accept the recommendation; the motion carried 7-0.
Village President Duane Urbanski presented nominations for 2026–2027 board appointments. Trustee Blaine Werner moved to confirm appointments to the Board of Review and the Plan Commission; Trustee Jamie Vorpahl seconded and the motion carried 7-0. A separate set of nominations for 2026–2029 board appointments was presented but received no action.
Trustees also approved a slate of 2026–2027 committee appointments (Beautification, Finance, Lake/Parks & Recreation, Personnel, Public Safety, Public Works and Music in the Park Ad-Hoc). Trustee Jamie Vorpahl moved to approve the committee appointments; the motion was seconded by Trustee Blaine Werner and carried 7-0.
The board approved a request to send Trustee Rachel Fuller to the 2026 Wisconsin Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities Conference, which Trustee Fuller said offers networking opportunities with other communities; Trustee Chuck Mueller moved to approve the trip and the motion carried 7-0.
Trustee Chuck Mueller moved to approve Pay Application No. 1 from Advance Construction; Trustee Blaine Werner seconded and the board voted 7-0 in favor.
The meeting included a standard consent-agenda approval covering the March 2026 Sheriff’s report, the April 6 meeting minutes, various checks, and the May newsletter; Trustee Jamie Vorpahl moved to approve the consent agenda and the motion carried 7-0.
The board received routine updates: Trustee Dave Borchardt said the Finance Committee will present quarterly budget-variance reports and that the village remains in good financial standing; Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Waala reported that a new permitting system has accelerated building-permit issuance.
