Committee recommends one-way Bentert Street to expand Triangle Park green space

The plan as presented leaves the primary decision to the village board about where to place sidewalks. Fuller described two concepts: maintaining sidewalks along Bentert Street or adding a central walkway from the pergola to the soldiers’ cross.
Co-Chair Blaine Werner acknowledged he had told the group the Historical Society meeting about a proposed mural had been canceled when it had not; he said a separate obligation kept him from attending and that he worried the mural idea would not receive necessary support without his presence.
Member Chuck Mueller moved to recommend that the village board make Bentert Street one-way from 2nd Street to 1st Street with a sidewalk on the east side adjacent to the curb. Co-Chair Blaine Werner seconded the motion, which carried 4-0.
The recommendation now goes to the village board for final approval and any engineering or sidewalk-location decisions.
