Palmyra updates roof, playground and track designs as referendum work advances

The Palmyra Board of Education on Sept. 11 received a district facilities update saying most referendum roofing work at Palmyra High School and Charles Street School should be finished by the end of the week, though metal capping and other metal installations are still pending.
Superintendent (name not specified in the minutes) told the board that a purchase order has been issued for playground equipment at Charles Street School and that contractors to handle fencing and concrete are selected; the district is awaiting equipment delivery. The superintendent said the district and its construction manager have met with the Garrison team to finalize designs for remaining referendum projects and that, once floor plans are approved, the district will proceed to bid documents with an anticipated November bid period for those items.
Work at the high school includes coordination on a proposed track. The superintendent said engineers, varsity track coaches, the athletic director and district construction and business staff continue design meetings and that the district hopes to put the track out to bid in October.
Buildings and grounds staff reported more than 410 summer work orders completed across district properties, including replaced sidewalks, moved classrooms and offices to prepare for the school year, bus maintenance and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
Chris Adams, the district technology lead, said Chromebook distribution to students was completed Sept. 6 (781 devices issued) with 629 verified operational, and that the Lumana security system is recording video and permitting remote access. Raptor implementation is partially complete pending replacement of a defective scanner.
The board noted timelines remain contingent on vendor schedules and component delivery; no final completion date was announced for metal roof capping or CSS ladder replacement. The board did not take separate formal votes on individual construction items during the meeting; updates were provided as part of the superintendent27s report.
