Residents ask commission to remove oak trees at Monroe Avenue corner

At the Dec. 10 meeting, residents Erin Mooney and Denise Gustavsen of 228 and 232 Monroe Avenue asked the Shade Tree & Parks Commission to remove a town-owned oak tree at their corner property, saying acorns were causing damage to cars and asking that any replacement be a non-oak species.
Chair W.R. Comery and Superintendent Steven Campbell said Campbell would inspect the tree and determine whether intensive pruning, removal, or replanting would be appropriate. Comery noted other trees removed in the neighborhood had been ash trees or were marked for winter removal because of poor health; Campbell said he would evaluate this site specifically before making a recommendation. The residents left the meeting at 7:36 p.m.
No formal vote or authorization was recorded at the meeting; the commission scheduled no immediate action beyond the inspection.
