The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors handled a series of routine administrative actions on June 30, approving minutes and the meeting agenda, acknowledging a part-time dispatcher resignation, approving four manure management plans and discussing fuel-bid procedures.
The board approved the minutes from the June 23 meeting and the day's agenda by motions that carried unanimously. The board acknowledged the resignation of part-time dispatcher Joann Huegerich (motion by Peter Seehusen, seconded by Kyle Smith). Auditor Nita Hinrickson said she will run an advertisement in mid-July to recruit an accounts payable clerk ahead of an anticipated March retirement.
The board approved manure management plans by motion (Aden, seconded by Siepker) covering: Triple L Pork, LLC - Buckeye – ID# 63895 (NE SE, Section 9, Sherman Township; owner Triple L Pork, LLC; contact Luke Lenhart); Gator – ID# 63891 (NW SW, Section 32, Sherman Township; owner Triple L Pork, LLC; contact Luke Lenhart); Ekstrand Farms – ID# 67371 (SW SW, Sec. 36 Grant Township; owner Dean Ekstrand; contact not separately specified); and PI249 Finisher – ID# 64713 (SW NW, Section 21, Des Moines Township; owner Prestage Farms of Iowa, LLC; contact Ben Crawford).
Kris Hauswirth of Pro Coop asked the board to reverse a recent fuel-bid decision based on bid-quote requirements; the board declined to reopen the award and said it will solicit bids again next year. The board also announced a joint Drainage Ditch 63 MOD FEMA repairs hearing scheduled for Aug. 11 in Emmetsburg at 1:00 p.m. The minutes record no contested votes on these administrative items beyond the motions noted above.
