Mason Consolidated Schools board approves athletic director hire, hears Trane energy presentation

The Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education met Sept. 3 in the Mason Senior High School IVN room and approved a personnel hire while hearing a presentation on potential energy savings for the district.
President Otting called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Board members present were England, Fowler (who left at 6:42 p.m.), Nehrig, Otting and Smith; Grodi and Waller were absent. The agenda was revised and approved early in the meeting.
The board received a presentation from Gwen Petit and Dean Weber of Trane Technologies outlining how the district might realize savings through a guaranteed energy savings performance bond as part of a Comprehensive Energy Solutions approach. The presentation described potential avenues for facility upgrades and financing structures intended to pay for improvements through measured energy savings.
The superintendent’s report highlighted a smooth start to the school year, noted growth on recent assessments, and described a staggered kindergarten start intended to ease the transition for new students and families. The district announced two personnel updates: Joey Cusumano was hired as a Level 1 technician and has already started, and Nichole Wright was hired as an accounting assistant with a start date of Sept. 15.
Under action items, the minutes list two recommendations: acceptance of an agreement with Trane Technologies for a Comprehensive Energy Assessment and approval of a Middle School Physical Education/District Athletic Director hire. The minutes record a single motion (by Smith, supported by England) carrying 4-0. The meeting concluded at 7:37 p.m. after a motion to adjourn carried 4-0.
