Campton reviews Highway and Town Clerk budgets; road agent seeks pay change

Town Administrator Kate O'Connor and department heads reviewed proposed changes to the Highway and Town Clerk/Tax Collector budgets at the Oct. 21 Campton Board of Selectmen meeting.
Road Agent Ron Farnsworth told the Board he would like either to be paid hourly rather than salaried or to receive a salary increase to $75,000 annually. Selectmen raised concerns about the potential effect of the change and about moving money from a roads warrant article into the operating budget rather than leaving it on the warrant for voter consideration.
Town Clerk and Tax Collector Hannah Joyce also asked to change her compensation to hourly pay while the Board asked clarifying questions about the TC/TX budget and briefly reviewed the Supervisors of the Checklist budget.
TA O'Connor also proposed placing a warrant article to create a revolving fund for police details; the Board asked O'Connor to research the mechanics and return with a proposal at a future meeting.
No formal motions or votes were recorded on the pay requests during this meeting; the Board directed staff to provide more information and to continue discussion at an upcoming session.
