Airport manager reports rising fuel sales, vehicle purchase and written warning after runway incursion

Airport Manager Erica Burkemper told the Daviess County Board of Aviation Commissioners on May 14 that fuel sales were significantly higher in April and early May and that pump prices were raised to reflect higher purchase costs for full loads of Jet A and 100LL.
Burkemper said all hangars are currently rented except T.4; two tenants ended their rental agreements after selling their aircraft and the wait list was adjusted accordingly. She reported a 2012 Chevy Traverse was purchased from US 50 Motors for $6,500; $5,895 of that came from hail-damage insurance proceeds and $605 came from the airport budget, with the auditor's office approving the financial movements. The former Impala courtesy car was removed by a salvage company on May 6.
Burkemper also reported an incident on April 25 in which K. Yoder gained unauthorized access to the runway in a vehicle. The board decided the tenant may continue to keep his rental but that a written warning will be placed in his rental file. The meeting record does not show any further enforcement action or law-enforcement referral.
On hangar maintenance, Burkemper said she met with B. Graber of Graber Post about vapor-lock material on t-hangar ceilings; Graber told her installing ceilings across the t-hangars would be the least costly option. Because the quoted work would be expensive, the board tabled the matter until the June meeting and asked Burkemper to prioritize which hangars would most need the upgrade.
In old business Burkemper said purchase of a flight simulator remains tabled until the end of the year because other airport improvements now take priority. She also provided a brief update on planning for the Wings & Wheels event scheduled for September and suggested the 2027 operating budget keep the same amounts submitted for 2026; she will re-review numbers and prepare the budget for the June meeting.
