At its May 13, 2026 meeting, Greg Jones presented an SIDC effectiveness report and told the Daviess County Council that the Land Bank grant supporting SIDC operations expires in September 2026. Jones said SIDC plans to ask each of the six participating counties for $50,000 to keep the Land Bank open and operational.
Jones also described ongoing and prospective projects in the SIDC area and mentioned a proposed water tower to support development in the Daviess County portion of the Westgate Crane Technology Park. He did not provide engineering or firm cost estimates for the water tower at the meeting.
Vice President Matt Meredith said the council would need “more tangible information and much more discussion” before spending taxpayer dollars on the water-tower plan or committing to SIDC’s funding request. The council did not take a vote; Jones indicated a formal request would be presented to the council in the future.
The transcript records SIDC and Land Bank references but does not spell out the SIDC acronym or provide the full scope of the six-county agreement; Jones’s presentation was informational and no formal county appropriation or commitment was made at the meeting.
