Garfield council approves water report, property abatement and project payment

During its June 10 meeting the Garfield City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 216 (2024 drinking water report), approved Resolution 217 authorizing abatement at a property on AR Hwy 127, authorized final payment of $12,685.20 for the Blueberry Lane drainage project, and approved May 2025 financials.
At its June 10 meeting the Garfield City Council approved a series of routine but formal actions: adoption of the 2024 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, authorization for code enforcement to abate an unsafe property, payment of a contractor invoice for a drainage project, and approval of May 2025 financial reports.
Mayor Gary Blackburn read Resolution 216 approving the 2024 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report; Council Member Smead moved to adopt, Council Member Rambo seconded, and the resolution passed unanimously. The council then approved Resolution 217 authorizing the code enforcement officer to abate unsafe and unsightly conditions at 18855 AR Hwy 127 (owner: Mayhew Holdings, LLC) after reviewing an email from the property owner; Council Member Kitterman moved to approve and the measure carried unanimously.
Adam Osweiler of McClelland Consulting Engineers addressed the council regarding the Blueberry Lane drainage project. Council Member Kitterman moved to pay MCE the final invoice of $12,685.20; Council Member Smead seconded and the payment was approved unanimously. Separately, Council Member Teeselink moved to approve the May 2025 financial reports as presented and the motion carried.
Each of these items passed on unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes. No recorded dissent, abstentions or conditions were attached to the approved items.
