Knox County commissioners approve $1.136 million contract for Water/Wastewater office and several interagency agreements

Knox County commissioners on July 7 approved a midyear budget packet and a series of contracts and interagency agreements, including a $1.136 million construction contract for a new Water/Wastewater office building.
County Administrator (speaking during the meeting) said the midyear packet is “the midyear budget that we do each year. Basically, a cash flow exercise that I do for all the areas that get levy dollars,” and that it lists county levies, bonds, maturity dates and related debt for the auditor’s review. Commissioners voted to approve the packet and forward it to the county auditor for signature.
The board approved an agreement among the Knox County Commissioners, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Mental Health and Recovery Board for Licking and Knox Counties to support a behavioral health services coordinator responsible for required mental-health assessments; that agreement will require signatures from all three parties.
Commissioners also approved a construction contract with STROP PREMIER custom construction for the Knox County Water/Wastewater Office Building Project in the amount of $1,136,000. The county administrator said the project will be funded from the Water Wastewater Fund rather than the county’s general fund and authorized the county administrator to execute the contract and related documents.
Other approved items included a short-form professional-services agreement for the county engineer’s office to support bridge replacement projects (transcript reference: “American director of 28”; name as transcribed was not clear), a utility permit for work on Simmons Church Road and Fishate Road in Milford Township, and an interagency agreement between the Knox County Department of Job & Family Services and Knox County Transit to support workforce-related services. The board also approved a permit application from B and J Drilling Company and the routine bill list and minutes.
“All those in favor, say aye,” the meeting chair said during multiple voice votes; commissioners responded and several items were seconded on the floor.
The items approved at the meeting will require the necessary signatures and follow-up filings, including submission of the midyear packet to the county auditor’s office. The construction contract is slated to proceed using Water/Wastewater Fund resources, and staff indicated further administrative steps will follow to execute the agreements.
