RISE Peer Recovery seeks HRSA RCORP-Impact support; council member offers to sign letter

Vanessa Phillips, presiding officer of the Daviess County Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council, told members on May 13 that RISE Peer Recovery is requesting a letter of support as it applies for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP)–Impact grant.
Vanessa said RISE, which serves Knox, Daviess, Pike, Dubois and Gibson counties, would act as a regional hub that coordinates referrals and then connects people to local services. The grant application asks partners to supply supporting data; board members were asked to forward any relevant information to Vanessa by email. Dan Murrie said he would sign the letter of support.
The Council did not take a formal vote on the letter during the meeting. RISE’s proposal was described at the meeting as potentially bringing $750,000 per year to the region to expand integrated treatment and recovery services for substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder. Vanessa asked members to share data to strengthen the application; no final decision or formal endorsement vote was recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: Vanessa will solicit data from board members by email; RISE will proceed with the HRSA application process and seek community partners for the hub model.
