The Neosho City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with Unlimited Play Inc., a Missouri nonprofit, to provide design and fundraising support for a fully inclusive playground at Rocketdyne Park.
Kenny, a city presenter, said Unlimited Play will help design the playground, assist with public outreach and fundraising, and pursue grants and donations. Kenny said the firm had waived a $10,000 design fee for Neosho and that it partners with commercial playground manufacturers to honor bidding and procurement requirements when the city reaches purchase stage. "Their fee for this is $10,000 and ... they waived that fee," Kenny said.
Staff said the partnership will help the city prepare grant materials (including a likely pursuit of a land development grant in August) and may enable a donation-based campaign to offset costs for amenities such as a splash pad. Council approved the resolution by a 4-0 vote.
Staff plans to continue design work, pursue grant opportunities and coordinate fundraising and a future groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting for the park.
