At the Feb. 19 meeting Frank Lemay joined the Chichester Heritage Commission via Zoom to report a ballpark estimate of about $10,000 to reroof the town gazebo using hand‑split cedar shingles.
Lemay said he would research alternative, less expensive roofing materials and report back. Commission member Matt Stolnis said he has been in contact with the general manager of Goosebay Lumber and will follow up with the owners to explore pricing and supply options.
Commissioners noted available local heritage funds are modest: Charrette funds total $2,617.74 and the non‑lapsing Heritage account holds $1,805.97. The commission is awaiting the Town Meeting vote on its proposed 2026 operating budget, which could affect the commission’s ability to cover a larger capital cost or to request town assistance or grant funding.
No formal motion to award work or to allocate funds for the gazebo was recorded; members agreed to gather more cost information and materials options before any decision.
