Nevada Airport Board raises nightly tie‑down fee, plans hangar project

The City of Nevada Airport Board on June 4 agreed to raise the airport’s nightly tie‑down rent from $25 to $50 and set a $100 nightly rate for twin‑engine aircraft.

Chairperson Monte Curtis led the board’s review of lease samples and noted the board’s decision that half of the increased fee will be paid directly to a person identified in the record only as Jody. The board also agreed there will be no tie‑down charge when aircraft owners supply their own cord. The meeting record does not show a formal roll‑call vote for the fee change or name a mover or seconder for that decision.

The board discussed lease language and edits to the sample agreements; Bob Thompson, participating by phone, recommended grammatical changes and removal of some provisions. Chairman Curtis said he will revise the documents and circulate them for final review.

Board members also discussed capital planning for additional hangars. The board indicated it wants to pursue a hangar project in the next budget year and “get as many hangars as possible.” Mary Wilson, city staff, said she will consult with Ian to determine next steps and report back.

The meeting included a brief runway update and procedural items but recorded no formal action on runway projects. The board scheduled procurement steps for design and engineering: Mary Wilson said the airport must issue two separate requests for proposals—one for engineering services and one for design—per a five‑year requirement and that she will provide more details to the board.
