APC staff briefs MPO funding for FY2027 and reports favorable low bids on several county projects

APC staff provided the MPO update and federal funding briefing at the July 9 meeting, noting that the agency has obligated its 2026 funds and is tracking state fiscal year 2027 funding. "Of course, there have been no projects that have obligated any funds yet," the staff member said, noting the agency will report monthly on obligations.
Staff reviewed the 18‑month bid‑letting list. Of the four projects in the July 8 INDOT letting, three were part of a contract for signal modernization on US 52 (at Ross Road, Teal Road and Dale Drive/450 East). The engineer's estimate for that contract was just under $1,000,000; the low bid was $367,000, and staff said they hope to report a successful award next month.
The North River Road Tippecanoe County project drew five bids; the engineer's estimate was slightly over $220,000 and the low bid came in at $119,844, well under the estimate. Staff also highlighted Project 10 (South 9th Street phase 2), two county bridge projects (Bridge 64 and Bridge 65), and a new November 2027 bid letting for a right‑turn deceleration lane project at the US 231 and 800 South intersection.
Staff said all projects are moving forward and will be monitored in monthly updates to the board. There was no board debate and no vote required on the briefing.
