Fincastle announces Christmas parade Dec. 6, volunteer workday Nov. 16

Council members and staff reported large community turnout for recent Halloween events (an estimated 400 trick-or-treaters) and a successful Open Studios weekend.
Staff announced a Christmas light workday on Nov. 16 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fincastle UMC Family Life Center and said decorations will be installed beginning Nov. 18 with assistance from Comcast/Xfinity. The Tinsel Tree Trail opening ceremony is set for the evening of Dec. 5 and the Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6; parade Grand Marshall will be Scott Critzer.
The announcements were presented as community events; no council votes or budget allocations for these items were recorded in the meeting minutes.
