Residents urge greater transparency and staffing changes during Agency's public forum

Jacoby Campbell, a former council member, said she had been a council member for six years and described receiving criticism after praising the community on a local radio program. "The council needs to be held accountable," she said, and asked whether council members expected information to be "thrown into your lap," urging them to come in and read ordinances.
Randy Knaak asked about the status of hiring a part-time deputy city clerk, saying he had visited City Hall several times and found the building closed. Deanna Knaak said she felt the city was "dropping the ball" on some matters and cited poorly maintained properties. Toni Cameron requested that financial reports, budgets and tax levies be posted on the city's website to increase transparency and accessibility.
The concerns prompted no immediate formal action during the meeting; Mayor Jake Johnson and City Clerk Angel Schafer had discussed an earlier complaint from Becky Warren and reported that Mrs. Warren considered that particular matter resolved. The council did not take further votes on staffing or website postings at this meeting; those items may be raised again at future meetings.
