State to close Route 130 bridge for six weeks; township signs engineering contract for lead-service lateral work

The work responds to a new state requirement that service lines between the water main and a residence be replaced if suspected to be lead or copper; an ordinance to authorize the program will be introduced at the November meeting.
In related public-service items the clerk noted a municipal repaving bid is due Oct. 25 and the winning bidder will be awarded the contract at the November meeting. Mayor David Murphy also reported that Perkintown Road can be repaved once the soil settles following pipe replacement, after a discussion with Commissioner Ed Ramsey.
