He said Back Street will be closed in about 2–3 weeks for the duration of the project and that paving of the courthouse parking lot is estimated to begin in late 2026 or early 2027.
Mayor Mary Bess Smith and council members asked for timing details and noted the need to coordinate closures with local traffic patterns; Evans provided the schedule above but did not provide construction contract numbers or change‑order details at the meeting.
