Plumsted board approves resignations, leaves and new paraprofessional hires

At its Oct. 16 meeting the Plumsted Township Board of Education approved personnel actions including a resignation, multiple leaves of absence, new paraprofessional hires and substitute school security appointments.

The board accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Michelle Cressman, effective Oct. 16, 2024. It approved a maternity/NJFLA leave for teacher Katherine Gilpin (paid disability/maternity through Dec. 11, 2024, then NJFLA without pay through Mar. 21, 2025), a medical/disability leave for teacher Jennifer Sonsiadek (Oct. 23–Dec. 4, 2024) and an FMLA leave for secretary Kim Lange (Oct. 15–Nov. 27, 2024), with benefits as specified in the minutes.

New hires approved pending required clearances included paraprofessionals Shelby Rajos and Diane Lauro (effective Oct. 17, 2024) and Shyann Frappier (on/around Oct. 23, 2024) at salaries listed as $18,320 (Para Step 6). The board also approved Paul Dreher and Melissa Terpanick as substitute school security guards at $30 per hour subject to criminal history clearance. The slate included ratification of non‑affiliated staff renewals, staff stipends, extracurricular staff appointments, fall sports stipends, SPED summer staffing and bus aides as listed in attached documents.

Mrs. Raywood moved and Mrs. Morgan seconded the personnel slate (B.1–B.21); the motion passed by roll call with all present board members voting yes.

Why it matters: approvals affect school staffing levels, special‑education summer staffing, supervision and safety coverage and individual employee leave timelines.

The personnel approvals were administrative in nature; the board recorded no debate on these items in the minutes.
