Plumsted BOE approves interim principal, field trips, prom venue, and 2025–26 school calendar

At the Feb. 12, 2025 meeting at New Egypt High School, the Plumsted Township Board of Education approved a set of routine but consequential personnel, finance and program motions by unanimous roll-call votes among members present.
Personnel approvals included a revised maternity/FMLA/NJFLA leave schedule for employee #5976 and the appointment of Richard Caldes as interim principal at New Egypt High School, effective March 3 through June 30, 2025, at a per-diem rate of $600 (appointment contingent on completion of the superintendent’s application process and receipt of required criminal-history clearance). The board also approved the pending hire of Katrina D’Agosto as a Resource Room/In-Class Resource Teacher at a prorated BA Step 1 salary of $59,803 and ratified extra-duty pay, staff transfers, mentor-mentee placements and extra-curricular assignments as listed in the personnel attachments.
On finance and events, the board approved the list of bills and claims, ratified fund transfers for November and December 2024, accepted the Board Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports, and approved an agreement with Richmond Tours for the senior trip to Camelback Lodge, PA (March 10–11, 2025) and an event contract with Battleground Country Club to host the Class of 2026 prom on May 21, 2026; both items are noted as at no cost to the district. The board also approved a revision of bus routes for the 2024–25 school year.
Under other motions the board approved Preschool Creativity and Innovation Night (Feb. 13, 2025) funded through the Preschool Expansion Aid Fund; approved Tender Smiles 4 Kids Mobile Dentistry Program to serve eligible New Egypt Primary School students on May 19, 2025; and approved the Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials for 2024–25. The board adopted the 2025–26 school calendar as presented.
All listed motions in the consent sections A, B, C and D were moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes and passed on roll-call votes with Mr. Meroney and Mrs. Morgan listed absent. The meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
