The Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners authorized a pipeline installation contract and a related budget amendment at its March 10 meeting to address stormwater conveyance on Reed Drive.
Town Manager Frank Rush recommended contracting with Sunland Builders, Inc., of Bogue, N.C., to install 1,500 linear feet of stormwater pipeline via horizontal directional drilling for a contract price of $124,980. The Board also approved a General Fund budget amendment appropriating $125,000 of unanticipated property tax revenues to fund the work.
Commissioner Alesia Sanderson moved to adopt the resolution authorizing the pipeline installation contract; the Board voted 5-0. Commissioner Roy Brownlow moved the budget amendment; the Board voted 5-0 in favor. Staff said the work will proceed under the awarded contract and that funds will be drawn from the specified unanticipated revenues.
