The Business & Development Services Committee met July 6 and approved the minutes of its previous meeting, then heard a brief development services report before forwarding several appointment recommendations to the full city council.
Building and development staff (Deerhog) told the committee the city has several new businesses and that business license renewals have been up 29% compared with last year. Staff highlighted upcoming projects including a phase‑two YMCA expansion that would add a covered outdoor pool and three athletic fields.
On appointments, staff said two Zoning Board of Appeals seats had term expirations and that one incumbent, Philip Cochran, had requested reappointment while another member, Paul Calabrese, did not seek reappointment. Two citizens applied for the ZBA openings; the committee moved to recommend reappointing Philip Cochran and appointing Manuel Barrientos and voted to forward those recommendations to the full council for final appointment.
The committee also approved forwarding the reappointments for three Planning Commission seats (the incumbents had applied for reappointment) to council. There were no non‑agenda public comments. The committee adjourned at approximately 6:09 p.m.
