Board moves six Neola policy updates, including AI governance, to second reading

The staff presenter said the district has been discussing the teacher appreciation grant internally and that the Neola contract provides policy updates the district has relied on; switching providers would require reapproving multiple policies.
Board members asked questions about vendor costs and transition work; staff said the district had significant sunk costs in Neola but that the annual fee (mentioned in discussion as roughly $1,000–$1,700 plus travel and expenses) was reasonable for the service provided. After discussion the board approved a motion to move items b1–b6 to second reading.
The board did not adopt final policy language at the meeting; the second reading will bring the policies back for formal adoption after further review.
