Council awards Boswell engineering contracts and introduces cannabis-licensing penalty change

At its Sept. 30 session the council approved a package of resolutions and contract awards on the consent agenda and later during resolutions/ordinances approved awards to Boswell Engineering.
The council awarded a contract to Boswell Engineering for West Oakland Avenue water-main improvements and separately awarded inspection services for Yawpo/Yawpo Avenue construction to Boswell. Council members justified using Boswell because the firm handled the design and was familiar with project scope and coordination with DOT. On the inspection-services award one council member recorded an abstention during the roll call.
As part of the evening's ordinances, the council introduced an amendment to Borough Code chapter 8-3 on cannabis licensing that addresses penalties for operating without a license. The ordinance was introduced and the council scheduled a public hearing and final adoption for Oct. 14.
The consent agenda also included raffle-license approvals (RL1561–RL1565) for local nonprofit fundraisers and community events including Indian Hills High School athletics and Camp YDP programming.
