Council splits on McDonald's start time, approves weekend work for Ramapo Valley site

On the McDonald’s weekend-work request, council members debated whether construction should be allowed to start at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Several members argued for an earlier start to allow more productive weekend hours, while others said 9 a.m. was appropriate to reduce neighborhood disturbance. A roll call produced three votes in favor of an 8 a.m. start and three votes for 9 a.m. (Council President Slocinski, Councilwoman Rose and Councilman Tallamini recorded “yes” votes for the 8 a.m. position; Councilman McCann, Councilman Pignatelli and Councilman Saliani recorded “no” votes). After the tie the presiding officer directed that an 8:00 a.m. weekend start be authorized.
Separately, the council voted to allow weekend work at 445 Ramapo Valley Road with a 9 a.m. start time. The motion passed on roll call with a majority in favor (Slocinski voted yes; McCann no; Pignatelli yes; Rose yes; Saliani yes; Tallamy yes), and the council memorialized the authorization.
Both authorizations were processed as discrete agenda motions with roll-call votes recorded by the clerk.
