Aldermen approve September balance sheets, Peoples Bank sign, two Planning & Zoning appointees and holiday decorations

At the Oct. 8 meeting the Board of Aldermen approved several routine items by unanimous vote.
City Clerk Marcia Gay submitted the September 2024 balance sheets; Alderman Gary Schneider moved and Alderman Janet Karrenbrock seconded approval. The Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation to approve sign applications for the new Peoples Bank was reviewed and the board (via motion by Alderman Karrenbrock, second by Alderman Schneider) approved the applications contingent on Cochran Engineering’s review. The board approved two Planning & Zoning appointments: William Pollihan and Sam Cummins (motions by Alderman Karrenbrock, seconded by Alderman Nelson). The city has $6,000 budgeted for city events/Christmas displays; Alderman Gary Schneider moved, and Alderman Brian Nelson seconded, a motion to purchase up to 10 new pole-mounted Christmas decorations. City Clerk Marcia Gay will contact Ameren UE to set a date/time to place the decorations.
