Waldo trustees approve minutes and finances; hear reports on roads, parks, police and dam

The Village of Waldo Board on April 13 approved routine minutes and financial items, heard committee and department reports on roads, parks, police and fire activity, and received an update on the Millpond dam spillway.
Trustee Michael Hintz moved to approve the minutes of the March 9 regular meeting; Trustee Jerome Hammarlund seconded and the motion carried. Hintz also moved to approve the Treasurer's Report as presented; Hammarlund seconded and the motion carried.
On vouchers, Trustee Hintz moved to pay vouchers #DD1050-DD1056 and 17028-17051 and to pay online payroll liabilities in the amount of $105,230.79. The board withheld check 17050 pending confirmation of the correct total by the Village President. Trustee Dennis Reinemann seconded the motion and the motion carried.
In committee reports Trustee Hintz told the board Lawson Street is in poor condition and is scheduled for repair this year. President Travis Thomas reported that trees on the west side of the park snapped during a heavy windstorm and that park signs need replacement; the Lakeshore ATV/UTV Club will help pay for route signs. The police report for March listed 3 citations, 8 warnings, 65 property checks, 5 complaints, 15 officer hours and 132 miles. The Fire Department reported five calls, all for wires down outside the village; the department will begin flooring work once weather permits and Tender 2 is being painted.
President Thomas also addressed an unofficial Facebook group, saying the "posts on that page generally do not make Waldo look good" and asking residents to "do better," while emphasizing that official notices will be posted on the Village of Waldo website and the village's official Facebook page. On infrastructure, Thomas reported the Millpond spillway is 90% closed but must remain partly open until an April 15 permit date; heavy rain refilled the pond and Trustee Joshua Behr moved logs that were stuck on the dam.
