Waldo trustees approve moving Millpond Dam spillway to final design

On Feb. 2, 2026, the Village of Waldo Board of Trustees voted to move the Millpond Dam spillway project to final design on the original option presented to the village. Trustee Michael Hintz made the motion, Trustee Jerome Hammarlund seconded it, and the motion carried.
Resident Brian Wimmler addressed the board during public comment, asking why trustees were not pursuing alternative funding sources such as a new grant and why other options for the spillway were not being considered in light of higher project costs. The board took no immediate action to change the selected option during the meeting; the motion approved advancing the original design to final plans.
Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Gillette had confirmed the meeting complied with Open Meetings Law at the start of the session. The board listed the Millpond Spillway again as an item for the next agenda, indicating the project will return for follow-up or additional review. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
