On March 9, 2026 the Village of Waldo Board of Trustees voted 3-2 to terminate the village's contract with Ayres for work on the millpond dam spillway. Trustee Dennis Reinemann moved to end the contract “based on the new information and the numbers they gave,” and Trustee Jerome Hammarlund seconded; Trustees Michael Hintz and Joshua Behr voted against the motion.
The decision follows public comment from resident Brian Wimmler, who asked the board for an update on the reasons the millpond was drawn down last fall and said he had contacted the village representative without receiving a response. The parks report at the meeting also noted that President Travis Thomas removed two 24-inch logs that had been blocking the spillway and reopened it.
Trustees did not record further directives on a replacement contractor or next steps for engineering or repair at the meeting. The motion terminated the contract with Ayres; the board did not announce an immediate follow-up schedule at the March 9 session.
