Warrens trustees approve smear finish for municipal office exterior, buy new election booths and approve routine bills

The Village of Warrens Board of Trustees on March 17, 2026, voted to apply a smear finish to the exterior of the Municipal Office building, approved the purchase of Voter’s Choice X4 voting booths and authorized routine transfers and payment of bills.
The vote to apply a smear finish passed unanimously. Trustee J. Le Mere moved the motion, P. Hardiman seconded it, and the board recorded a 6-0 vote in favor. The board’s discussion said members considered appearance, cost, maintenance and long-term durability before approving the exterior treatment.
Trustees also approved purchasing Voter’s Choice X4 voting booths after discussing durability, portability, storage and cost. The motion to purchase was moved by M. Rezin and seconded by T. Swope; the vote was 6-0.
On routine finance matters, the board approved the transfer and payment of bills as presented. A. Werner moved the motion, T. Swope seconded, and the board recorded a 6-0 vote.
In an informational update during the Department of Public Works portion of the meeting, the minutes note that the village’s current meter reader is being discontinued and that MXU metering units must be replaced before the municipality can buy a new reader. The Treasurer reported that replacing all MXU units at once would cost approximately $56,000; the discussion was informational and no procurement action was taken at this meeting.
The board also acknowledged an office closure April 14–15, 2026, for Caselle virtual training and conference attendance; the office is scheduled to reopen April 16. The Plan Commission reported ongoing zoning discussions related to Jellystone Campground, and the village has submitted an application for an AARP Community Challenge Grant and is awaiting notification.
