Residents press council on problem property and speeding; mayor says staff in contact

Tom Geist of 213 Cypress Ave said he supplied the borough with an attorney letter in February and has not received communication about ongoing problems at 211 Cypress Ave. He described bamboo regrowth affecting a drain field, concerns about a septic system and well, damage to his home’s foundation, and vandalism (broken windows and doors) at the neighboring property. Geist asked council to take action. Mayor Richard Roach said Public Works has been in communication with the property owner and the owner’s attorney and that borough staff will continue to communicate to resolve the matter; he also encouraged residents to call the police if they observe further vandalism.
Bud Scully of 809 Aston Martin Drive told the council that drivers are speeding on Aston Martin and requested an officer be stationed to monitor the road. Mayor Roach said he would inform the police chief about the complaint.
The council did not record further formal action during the meeting on either matter; both items were recorded as public comments and were referred to municipal departments for follow-up.
