The Wayne County Commissioners met July 2 in Honesdale and approved a series of routine personnel, contract and financial actions. The board unanimously accepted three staff resignations, tabled one hiring motion due to an incorrect salary listing, approved two hires, extended a staffing contract for Children and Youth Services and authorized county payments totaling $751,475.37.
Minutes and personnel: Commissioner Jocelyn Cramer moved to approve the June 25, 2026 minutes; Commissioner Brian W. Smith seconded and Commissioner James Shook abstained because he was absent from the prior meeting; the motion carried. The board accepted resignations from 9-1-1 Dispatcher Forrest Mohn (effective June 26, 2026); Part-Time Material Handler Gary Quick (effective June 26, 2026); and Corrections Officer Lucius Bender (effective June 29, 2026). The board unanimously approved hiring Jill Tutza as Clerk 1 in the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, effective July 13, 2026, and Stacie Caproni as Caseworker 1 (Housing) in Human Services, effective July 6, 2026. A motion to hire Kevin Pimpinelli as a County Caseworker 1 (Intake) was tabled due to an incorrect salary amount in the motion and will be returned next week.
Contract extension: The commissioners unanimously authorized a three-month contract extension with Service Access Management Inc. through Sept. 30, 2026 to provide staffing support for Wayne County Children and Youth Services at the rates listed in the agreement.
Bills and transfers: The board reviewed the Treasurer's Report dated July 1, 2026, and approved payment of General Fund checks No. 140857 through 140930 and other fund disbursements as presented. The minutes list a total of $751,475.37 on the page that includes General Fund checks and transfers; notable items included a $400,000 transfer for capital investment expenses (WC Capital Investment Acct), a $34,273 balance due to White Star Tours Inc. (Human Services), and vendor payments across public safety, health and social services accounts.
Other business and process: Commissioners recessed twice for Salary Board meetings (see Salary Board minutes) and recessed into an executive session on litigation matters. Commissioner James Shook announced a July 21 bus trip to tour a data center in Loudon County, Va., hosted by the Chamber of the Northern Poconos; registration will be open first to municipal leaders and the media. The board adjourned by unanimous vote.
