Staff orients new Wylie P&Z members on zoning, plats, public hearing rules and conflicts of interest

He noted statutory time constraints for plats (staff said state law requires decisions within 30 days) and said the city’s comp plan was adopted in 2022 and will be reviewed for possible update.
On ethics and communications, Kevin told commissioners to disclose conflicts of interest in advance and to leave the room for items where they have a conflict; he also warned that "texting during a meeting may constitute public information" and recommended using city-approved channels and keeping work material on city servers.
Kevin announced a Planning & Zoning training in North Richland Hills on Friday, Aug. 7 (approx. 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), and said the city will cover registration. He closed by offering staff support and contact points (Daniel, Jason, Kevin and Gabby) for questions.
