The Alma Common Council voted unanimously March 13 to grant a conditional use permit to Dylan Fluekiger to construct a 40-foot by 50-foot garage at 1116 Riverview Drive.
Council members approved the permit after listing conditions from the Planning Commission: the garage must be used for residential purposes only (no commercial activity), it may not be rented or used for boarding animals, 5-inch oversized gutters must be installed with drainage directed to the north, and all construction materials must be removed from neighboring properties upon completion. The motion to grant the permit was made by Gary Jepsen and seconded by Loren Mueller; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
During the public hearing Mayor Richard Champeny said the council would accept testimony, and resident Deborah Eisenhutt said she was "neither for nor against the conditional use permit" but asked that drainage be addressed so it would not affect neighbors. No other testimony was received and Mayor Champeny closed the hearing.
The approval resolves the formal land-use question raised at the public hearing; implementation will proceed under the stated conditions and any compliance enforcement will follow city procedures. The council recorded the vote as "all members voting yes."
