Norborne public works reports new hire, equipment out for repair; mayor outlines recycling and park plans

Public Works Supervisor Joey Bates told the Norborne Board of Aldermen on May 12 that new employee Dawson Dunkin has performed well in his first week, and that the department's tractor remains at the shop awaiting service. Bates said he would prefer to spray the Liberty Street ditch with weed killer rather than mow it to address vegetation.

Mayor Jacob DeMint updated the board on the opening of the recycling building behind City Hall and described Park Board plans for renovations to both city parks to proceed after fundraising is completed. DeMint also summarized a Bartlett & West report on the upcoming water-line project, noted an updated ordinance-violation list, and said demolition of a 2nd Street house is expected to begin this week; the city plans to send two 30-day demolition letters to property owners who have not met repair deadlines.
