Norborne adopts fiscal-year 2026–27 budget and approves administrative items
Summary

The Norborne Board of Aldermen read Ordinance 691, the budget for fiscal year 2026–27, three times as required by municipal procedure; motions to approve followed each reading and the ordinance was adopted. The board likewise read Ordinance 692, governing dog licenses, three times and adopted it after motions to approve.
On finance matters, Alderman Garrett Matthews moved to move four HS&L certificates of deposit into six-month terms at 3.79% interest; Alderman Jackie Hall seconded and the motion carried. The board approved the Financial and Treasurer's Report for February 2026 following a motion by Alderman Josh Elliott and a second from Alderman Julie McClure.
Alderman Jackie Hall moved to accept Kenny Hale as the auditor for fiscal year 2025–26 at a price of $5,500; Alderman Julie McClure seconded and the motion carried. The board also approved a P&Z building application from Larry Naslund after a motion by Alderman Josh Elliott and a second by Alderman Garrett Matthews.
Mayor Jacob DeMint announced the April 7 election that will include a USE tax on the ballot and mentioned citywide garage sales June 4–5. The board later voted to send a letter supporting the NW Solid Waste Commission opposing Senate Bill 1586. The meeting was adjourned and moved into closed session at approximately 7:00 p.m.
